Origin Bar at Shangri-La Singapore has unveiled an exciting new cocktail menu that promises to turn familiar ideas on their heads. Aptly named ‘Point of View’, this fresh collection is a flavour-forward exploration that blends storytelling, bold ingredients, and a little bit of magic behind the bar.
With 18 inventive cocktails and 5 sophisticated mocktails, the menu is divided into three imaginative themes that reflect different eras of mixology thinking—Reimagined, New Era, and Boundless.
Rewriting the Classics: ‘Reimagined’
This chapter revives the spirit of timeless cocktails, reinventing them through unexpected elements and techniques. The standout?
Saz-air-ak
A playful take on the classic Sazerac, this drink flips the script by letting absinthe—usually a background player—steal the spotlight as an airy foam. Paired with Michter’s rye whiskey, lemon oils, peach, and bitters, it’s a layered and aromatic sipper.
Another highlight, Jumper, pays homage to the minty Grasshopper with an elevated global twist: think pistachio, matcha, cocoa butter, cream, and a hint of tequila for good measure.
Mixing with Meaning: ‘New Era’
Inspired by the complexities of today’s world, these drinks are as thoughtful as they are creative.
No Offense
This cocktail doesn’t hold back—popcorn-infused rum and housemade pimento dram are blended with notes of apricot and spice. It’s a provocative pour that invites conversation.
Then there’s Compost-politan, a tongue-in-cheek nod to sustainability. Using leftover citrus, discarded grape skins, and house-dried orange, it proves that eco-conscious drinks can still be utterly chic.

Zero to Hero
A clarified milk punch made with hazelnut, maple, apple, and Monkey Shoulder whisky, it’s a tribute to growth and transformation—every element layered to perfection.
Ants and Bees
Yes, there are ants—Amazonian ants, to be exact—topping a high-cocoa chocolate served alongside a cocktail of Japanese shochu, burnt honey, vanilla, and verjus. It’s a daring, elegant exploration of nature, craft, and complexity.
Not Just Cocktails—Bar Bites Reimagined
To complement the drinks, Origin Bar has rolled out a playful “hands or chopsticks only” bar bites menu, curated by Chef Simon Bell of Origin Grill. It’s all about shareable, interactive eats: from Poké Kinilaw and Chips to Grilled Cheese Toasties, Ichiban Ramen, and Kofta Tacos—the menu is casual yet elevated, designed to surprise.
