If you know, you know. Tucked away beside a cascading pool inside the Singapore Polytechnic Graduates’ Guild (SPGG), Oasis Hideout is exactly what it sounds like—a chill, unpretentious Western-style diner where locals gather for good food, value prices, and a little peace from the pace of city life.
But what makes this spot special isn’t just its laksa seafood pasta or sizzling hot stone steaks—it’s the story behind the kitchen.
Messy Burger
From Hawker Roots to Restaurant Dreams
Oasis Hideout is the latest venture by Antonio Tay, a self-taught chef and former hawker, who co-founded the business with three close friends. What started as a dream to offer better-quality Western food at affordable prices quickly grew into something bigger: a place where staff could build real careers in the F&B industry.
While Antonio still runs two hawker stalls under his Antonio’s brand, Oasis Hideout became the team’s first full-service outlet—a 60-seater space they had to manage entirely on their own. From cleaning to customer service to creative marketing, it’s been a crash course in restaurant operations. And as the business has grown, so has the team’s confidence.
“For some of our employees, working here is a big step up from hawker stalls,” Antonio shares. “It’s a way for them to grow, to learn new skills, and to feel proud of where they work. I want to give them more than just a job—I want to give them a future.”
His parent company, Galo, now employs around 30 people—many of them low-wage workers with limited education. But with plans to franchise, expand into higher-tier markets, and create multiple concepts under one umbrella, Antonio is determined to build a company where career progression in F&B is more than just lip service.
Local Flavours Meet Diner Classics
Laksa Pasta
True to Antonio’s hawker heritage, the menu at Oasis Hideout is a lively mash-up of Western comfort food and bold Asian flavours.
You’ll find hearty dishes like:
-
Premium Meltique Beef on Sizzling Hot Stone, served with sautéed potatoes and sambal long beans
-
Laksa Seafood Pasta, tossed with shallot oil and laksa spices, topped with a sunny side-up egg
-
Tom Yum Seafood Pasta, where creamy, spicy-sour broth meets twirlable noodles
With over 100 items on the menu, the team is constantly experimenting—playing with flavours, testing customer favourites, and welcoming feedback from diners who’ve stumbled upon this hidden gem.
A New Kind of F&B Business
At its core, Oasis Hideout is more than just a casual diner—it’s a stepping stone. It’s where passionate cooks can move beyond the hawker stall and into a fully equipped kitchen. Where waitstaff can level up their service skills. Where a team learns by doing, together.
“F&B is tough,” Antonio admits. “But if we keep learning, keep innovating, we’ll make it. And we’ll bring more people along with us.”
If you’re in the Dover area and looking for a laid-back spot to unwind—with laksa pasta in one hand and a view of a pool in the other—Oasis Hideout is worth seeking out.
