Sora at Rosewood Phnom Penh has introduced a new cocktail programme titled Build & Sip, a menu designed around the idea that cocktails can be constructed layer by layer much like architectural structures. The concept blends storytelling, craftsmanship and flavour composition into a collection of drinks that reflect both creative playfulness and technical precision.

Developed by Director of Bars Jonas Vittur together with the Sora team, the menu explores how classic cocktail foundations can be reinterpreted through Japanese aesthetics, Cambodian ingredients and global bartending techniques.

A Cocktail Menu Built Around Structure and Storytelling

The Build & Sip menu features 16 drinks in total, including 14 alcoholic cocktails and two zero-proof creations. Each drink begins with the structure of a familiar classic before being rebuilt through layered ingredients, presentation techniques and narrative inspiration drawn from the team’s personal experiences.

Visual presentation plays an important role throughout the menu. Studded ice blocks, architectural glassware and edible garnishes inspired by building elements reinforce the construction theme while maintaining a refined aesthetic suited to Sora’s signature style.

Local produce also plays a central role, reflecting Cambodia’s agricultural heritage and supporting a more thoughtful approach to sourcing ingredients across the cocktail programme.

Signature Cocktails Highlight Khmer Ingredients and Japanese Influence

Several standout cocktails illustrate how the concept translates into flavour.

The Khmer Colada reimagines a tropical classic with white rum, pineapple and coconut layered alongside Cambodian curry spices, sansho pepper and a gentle touch of chilli for warmth and depth.

Cherry Lady Punch draws inspiration from cherry blossom landscapes and the meeting of Japanese symbolism with Cambodian ingredients. Presented as a clarified milk punch, the drink combines cashew nut whiskey, spiced rum, ratafia rossa, almond liqueur, Cointreau, cherry syrup and sakura tea, finished with a dark chocolate garnish infused with cashew and pepper notes.

Another highlight, the Nihon Gimlet (header image), takes cues from Japanese tea rituals and garden landscapes. Served in a ceramic tea cup, it combines Japanese gin with matcha green tea and kaffir lime leaf to create a bright, aromatic cocktail with herbal depth and citrus freshness.

A Cocktail Programme Recognised Across Asia’s Bar Scene

Sora’s continued experimentation behind the bar arrives alongside growing regional recognition. In 2025, the venue became the first bar in Cambodia to appear on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars 51–100 list, ranking at No. 65. The same year, it also received the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award at Asia’s 50 Best Bars, highlighting the team’s commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainability-focused practices.

Located on Level 37 of Vattanac Capital Tower, Sora combines an indoor cocktail lounge, an outdoor skydeck overlooking Phnom Penh and an intimate whisky library offering rare international labels, making it one of the city’s most distinctive rooftop drinking destinations.
