Bringing a Global Potato Giant to Singapore Homes

Lamb Weston, one of the world’s biggest names in frozen potato products, has officially entered the Singapore retail market, marking its first Southeast Asian debut. Known for supplying restaurant-quality fries worldwide, the brand now introduces four signature cuts—Original Fries, Grill Fries, Ziggy Fries and Potato Dippers—available exclusively at FairPrice outlets. The launch coincides with Lamb Weston’s 75th anniversary, a legacy built on innovation including its proprietary Stealth™ batter coating designed for long-lasting crispiness.

“We’re thrilled to bring Lamb Weston’s world-class fries to consumers homes in Singapore,” said Jeevan Dass, Senior Commercial Director, Asia Pacific. “For 75 years, we’ve been driven by a love of potatoes and a passion for innovation. Our fries are more than just a snack, they’re crafted for real moments of joy – whether you’re sharing with family, entertaining friends, or simply indulging yourself. Launching in Singapore allows more consumers to experience the crispiness, flavour, and quality that have made Lamb Weston a trusted name around the world.”

A Look at the Four Fry Styles

Original Fries

These skin-on fries sit comfortably between thick-cut and shoestring styles. That middle ground worked well in my household: I prefer a chunkier fry for better potato flavour, while my husband prefers thin-cut; this landed somewhere pleasing for both of us. The flavour leans clean and classic, making it a versatile option for everyday meals.

Grill Fries

Lightly seasoned with salt and black pepper, the Grill Fries offer something different from standard frozen fries without being overpowering. The seasoning lifts the flavour enough to make them enjoyable on their own (although I think it’s even better with ketchup or chilli sauce), and the ridged texture helps with achieving a consistent crisp. If you like a fry with a bit of character, this one stands out.

Ziggy Fries

With their deep zig-zag ridges, these fries are built for texture. They crisp up nicely and hold dips well, making them a crowd-friendly option. They also look visually appealing in a sharing platter.

Potato Dippers

The most innovative cut in the collection, Potato Dippers are shaped like small scoops — and the design genuinely works. They hold sauce better than a standard fry without becoming soggy, making them a fun and functional option for communal meals or parties.

Air Frying: Practical Notes

The air-frying instructions recommend shaking or tossing the fries every four minutes for a total cook time of 12–16 minutes. While the results were reasonably crispy, the frequent shaking does require more attention than typical frozen products, which usually need just one mid-cook shake. For home cooks who use air fryers precisely because they want a “hands-off” experience, this may feel like more work than expected.

One important tip: avoid silicone or baking paper linings. The fries tend to stick to them, preventing the crisp finish you’re aiming for.

In terms of performance, the fries held up well. They weren’t extremely crunchy, but they stayed crisp noticeably longer than fast-food fries, which soften quickly once cooled.

Sustainability Efforts

The retail range arrives in packaging designed with reduced material usage, incorporating bio-renewable elements that lower overall environmental impact. This is part of the brand’s broader sustainability direction, which includes focusing on reducing food waste and improving energy efficiency across operations.

Launch Promotions

The products are available at a promotional price of S$6.15 (usual price S$6.65) for a limited time, alongside weekend tasting booths and small gifts-with-purchase at selected FairPrice outlets. This makes it easy for consumers to sample the different cuts before committing to a favourite. Consumers can also redeem a free Lamb Weston Fry Clip Fridge Magnet – a fun and practical food sealer shaped like a fry – with any two-pack purchase in a single transaction. Redemptions are available only during sampling events and while stocks last.

Final Thoughts

Lamb Weston’s entry into Singapore’s frozen fries market brings thoughtful variety, from the seasoned Grill Fries to the dip-friendly Dippers. While the cooking instructions ask for more active monitoring than most frozen fries, the end result is reliably crisp with good flavour retention. The Original Fries offer a balanced cut that suits households with mixed preferences; Ziggy Fries cater to texture lovers; and the Dippers are a standout for their functional shape. Overall, the range offers convenience, versatility and a quality level that feels aligned with Lamb Weston’s well-established reputation.
