Select Group, the leading food service provider in Singapore for over 30 years, is thrilled to announce the launch of the newest Hawkers’ Street outlet at Bukit Panjang Plaza, opening on 3 August. Bukit Panjang Plaza Hawkers’ Street will be the second location in the heartlands, making it the third Hawkers’ Street branch islandwide. Spanning across 501 sqm, the Bukit Panjang Plaza outlet can accommodate up to 230 diners, providing a spacious and inviting environment for the local community to enjoy.

Following the success of the launch of Hawkers’ Street Tampines 1 outlet in July, which brought traditional hawker cuisine to the East, the new Bukit Panjang Plaza outlet aims to cater to the residents of the West, offering them convenient access to an array of beloved hawker dishes alongside Korean and Thai cuisines. This expansion underscores Select Group’s commitment to bringing Singapore’s rich hawker heritage closer to its residents.

Jack Tan, Executive Director of Select Group shared, “We are excited to bring Hawkers’ Street to Bukit Panjang Plaza, allowing us to serve the vibrant community in the west of Singapore. Our goal is to continue celebrating Singapore’s culinary heritage by making these iconic dishes easily accessible to more people. With each new outlet, we strive to provide a platform for both legendary and emerging hawkers to reach a broader audience.”

The Bukit Panjang Plaza outlet will feature a total of 11 diverse stalls, including four Muslim-friendly stores who are undergoing halal certification: Pondok Indah Indonesian Nasi Padang, Waker Chicken, Thai Makan by Thai Dynasty, and Kaki Makan. These stalls will offer a variety of delicious authentic food, drinks and desserts, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Bukit Panjang Plaza Hawkers’ Street Highlights

Pondok Indan Indonesian Nasi Padang

Pondok Indah Indonesian Nasi Padang is renowned for its diversely flavourful dishes, often drawing long lines of eager customers. Founded by Lindawaty Siam, the restaurant draws food enthusiasts with its extensive menu featuring over 30 daily options, including standout dishes like Beef Rendang, Ayam Lemak Chili Padi, Asam Pedas Fish, and Lontong. With main dishes starting at just S$2.50, it’s a favourite for both its authentic taste and affordability.

The restaurant is a family affair, with Lindawaty’s children—John, Elizabeth, and Juliana Ng—playing crucial roles. They each left promising careers to help their mother continue the family tradition. Juliana, who first helped at the first stall at 10, previously worked as an R&D chef. Elizabeth used to manage a TCM clinic, while John left behind a career in crypto trading. Both John and Elizabeth also used to help out at the first stall since young, 13 and 17 respectively.

Pondok Indah is celebrated not only for its freshly made rempahs and high-quality spices but also for its commitment to preserving and sharing their mother’s culinary legacy. The family’s dedication extends beyond their local community as they aim to grow and spread the joy of Nasi Padang to a wider audience.
