It’s that time of year again when Singapore’s most loved food delivery service, Deliveroo, reveals their annual ’Deliveroo 100 Report’ – a delicious ranking of the top trending dishes ordered on the platform to satisfy foodies’ cravings from across the world. From devilled eggs to a pack of bananas, this year’s eclectic mix of take-away favourites certainly makes for an interesting read.

It turns out that Hawaiian poke bowls are the real stars of the show in 2021. The incredibly instagrammable and equally nutritious Hawaiian dish has been revealed as a favourite in six different countries and makes up 40% of the global top 10 list.

A closer look at Deliveroo’s top 100 reveals some fun ordering trends over the course of 2021.

Big Appetites in the Little Red Dot

For the second year in a row, Guzman y Gomez makes its mark and claims first place as the most ordered dish in Singapore, while also earning a coveted 9th spot on the global list. Singaporeans continue to show their love for a healthy and nutritious meal, with the Mediterranean Salad Bowl from VIOS by Blu Kouzina taking the 20th spot on the global list.

The pandemic has inspired new ways of living, working and eating. Customisable meals such as the Regular Bowl by The Daily Cut and Salad bowl by SaladStop! clinched the top 10 spots in Singapore’s top most ordered dishes – the perfect companions for health-conscious individuals looking for a quick lunch fix.

Local fare continues to capture the locals’ hearts and appetites. Favourites like Wanton Noodles, Nasi Lemak with Chicken Wing, Siew Mai, Plain Prata and the Curry Puff ranked among the top 30 most ordered dishes across the island. With the pandemic, Singaporeans have also been indulging in comfort foods such as croissants, fried chicken, and burgers. Popular restaurants to order from include Tiong Bahru Bakery, MOS Burger, Pontian Wanton Noodles, KFC, and Burger King.

Online Grocery Carts Piled High

With more and more grocers joining the Deliveroo platform across the world as demand for on-demand groceries has skyrocketed since the first lockdown in 2020 – it’s no surprise that a few shopping list items have made it to the top 100 list this year. A pack of bananas from supermarket Giant makes an appearance, ranking 81st globally and 9th in Singapore.

For the Love of Lunch

With work from home continuing and more people than ever still working from home across the globe, classic lunch choices like wraps, sandwiches and salad bowls have never featured so heavily in Deliveroo’s top 100. Making up a whopping 20% of this year’s list, highlights include the Broodje Zeedijk (Smoked Chicken and Bacon Sandwich) from Slagerij Vet in Amsterdam, the Mediterranean Salad Bowl from VIOS by Blu Kouzina in Singapore and the Pain poulet fumé aux épices (Mediterranean spiced chicken wrap) from My Tannour in Brussels. Not to mention the most frequently occuring (13 mentions) lunch dish in the list: the incredibly instagrammable and equally nutritious Poke Bowl.
