Abalone often makes an appearance on Singapore dining tables during Chinese New Year, but there is no reason to reserve it for the festive season. From 10 October to 12 December 2026, the second Abagold Abalone Festival brings a series of limited-time dishes to restaurants across Singapore, ranging from charcoal-grilled abalone to pasta, risotto and Japanese egg custard.
The participating chefs are working with South African farmed abalone from Abagold, which cultivates its shellfish in the cool Atlantic waters off Hermanus. According to the producer, its abalone has a gentle natural sweetness and a firm texture that works with preparations ranging from steaming to grilling and braising.
Where to eat abalone during the festival
AMI Patisserie: Abalone Chawanmushi with Autumn Mushrooms

Chef Makoto Arami gives the Japanese savoury egg custard a seafood twist, preparing it with abalone-and-seaweed dashi, maitake mushrooms and sliced abalone. The chawanmushi is served as part of AMI Patisserie’s autumn dessert dining experience at S$128++, rather than as a separately priced à la carte item.
Where: 27 Scotts Road.
Zenryoku Izakaya: Shioyaki Abalone and Awabi Itame

For something smoky, there are two abalone dishes cooked over binchotan charcoal. The Shioyaki Abalone (S$15.80++) features thinly sliced, salt-grilled abalone with a dashi-butter sauce made using its liver. The Awabi Itame (S$29.80) takes inspiration from ginger-and-scallion stir-fries, pairing abalone with portobello mushrooms and wok hei.
Where: 183 Upper Thomson Road, #01-04. Note that the restaurant requires each guest to order at least one alcoholic beverage.
Supply & Demand: Grilled Abalone Risotto

Seafood lovers who enjoy richer flavours can look out for the Grilled Abalone Risotto (S$47++). Grilled abalone sits on risotto prepared with sea urchin and crustacean butter, with squid ink and parsley completing the dish.
Where: Supply & Demand Esplanade, 8 Raffles Avenue, #01-13, Esplanade Mall Annexe.
Scott’s Grill: Grilled Abalone Pasta with Liver Emulsion

At Scott’s Grill, the Grilled Abalone Pasta with Liver Emulsion (S$58++) makes use of both the meat and liver. The abalone is steamed in its shell for three hours before being grilled to order. Its liver is poached in cream and blended into a sauce with garlic, dashi, shiso and chicken jus.
Where: Shaw Centre, 1 Scotts Road, #01-13.
Capasso: Abalone Risotto or Cold Angel Hair Pasta

Capasso has two options for diners who prefer pasta or rice dishes. Its Abagold Risotto (S$68++) pairs abalone with cuttlefish, cordyceps and puffed barley, using an abalone-liver broth to bring the components together.
The Cold Angel Hair Pasta with Abalone Supplement (S$46++) instead combines abalone with a miso-smoked sea urchin dressing, Oscietra caviar and myoga, a type of Japanese ginger.
Where: 92 Telok Ayer Street.
Avant Seafood Market: Two Simpler Preparations
If you would rather let the shellfish take centre stage, Avant Seafood Market offers Miso Butter Steamed Abalone (S$15++), which is steamed and then lightly grilled, and Cold Baby Abalone (S$25++), briefly steamed before being chilled on ice. The latter is intended to bring out the abalone’s natural sweetness without a heavy sauce.
Where: 129 Owen Road.
XIAN by Suguru: Teochew Marinated Abalone for Home

Those planning to dine at home can look out for XIAN’s Teochew Marinated Abalone. Chef Desmond Heng uses a Teochew-style marinade with shoyu, herbs, spices and rock sugar, but replaces the more traditional yellow wine with Luzhou baijiu for a floral note. Pre-orders are due to open in late October through Suguru’s website. The release does not state a price.
Tanglin Club: South African 6-Head Abalone
Tanglin Club is also taking part with South African 6-Head Abalone with Morel Mushrooms and Beancurd, served at Tang Yun. This dish is available to members only; a price was not provided.
Where: Tang Yun, 5 Stevens Road.
Collect stamps on the Abagold Gold Trail
There is an additional incentive for anyone planning to try more than one restaurant. The festival’s Gold Trail passport rewards visits with stamps that gradually complete an illustrated food-city design.
- Three stamps: Unlock the first Abby mascot stamp and 15% off Abagold canned abalone purchases.
- Four stamps: Complete the artwork, unlock a second Abby stamp, receive a complimentary can of Abagold abalone valued at S$68, and get 15% off canned abalone purchases.
The organisers name Avant Fine Foods, Capasso, Scott’s Grill, Supply & Demand, Vineyard and Zenryoku as Gold Trail locations. As the promotional list differs slightly from the restaurant line-up, it is worth confirming the passport arrangements with the venue before visiting. Redemptions take place at Avant Seafood Market.
