Perched on the 37th floor of Rosewood Phnom Penh, Sora has earned the prestigious Ketel One Sustainability Award at the Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025, held in Macau on July 15. This accolade, judged by The Sustainable Restaurant Association, celebrates Sora’s commitment to ethical sourcing, zero-waste cocktails, and community engagement. It also marks another milestone for the bar, which became Cambodia’s first-ever entry on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, debuting at No. 65 this year.

Rosewood’s Hydroponic Garden

Sora’s sustainable approach is woven into every detail — from eliminating single-use plastics to sourcing over 70% of its ingredients locally, including from its own hydroponic garden. Standout creations like the Sora Martini exemplify this ethos, featuring house-made vermouth from kitchen leftovers, whole oranges (peel included), and native Kampot pepper. Collaborations with local producers such as Seekers Spirits and Samai Distillery ensure both quality and fair wages for workers.

Beyond the drinks, Sora actively nurtures the Cambodian hospitality community by hosting workshops on waste reduction and championing local flavours. Partnerships with NGOs like Smiling Gecko further its mission to give back, offering education and job opportunities to those in need.

The award also coincides with new leadership: Nimol Leourng joins as Bar Manager, bringing six years of hospitality experience and a vision for locally inspired cocktails and immersive guest experiences. Jonas Vittur steps in as Director of Bars, aiming to spotlight Cambodian creativity and culture on the world stage through storytelling cocktails that connect emotionally with guests.

With its Alchemy of Anime menu featuring Japanese manga-inspired drinks infused with Cambodian ingredients like wild honey and Kampot pepper, Sora continues to redefine Phnom Penh’s cocktail scene. Under Jonas and Nimol’s leadership, it’s poised to become not just a top-tier bar but a movement for sustainable and culturally rich hospitality.
