Charles Leclerc has taken his partnership with Chivas Regal beyond the racetrack with the launch of Chivas Regal 16, his first signature whisky and the brand’s first 16-year-old expression.

The limited-edition Scotch was created with Chivas Regal Master Blender Emeritus Sandy Hyslop and takes its inspiration from the number 16, which has long been closely associated with Leclerc’s racing career. The blend brings together 16 whiskies, with each component aged for at least 16 years.

How Chivas Regal 16 came together

Rather than simply lending his name to the bottle, Leclerc was involved in the blending process. During development, he tasted a range of whiskies and was particularly drawn to the richer character of sherry-cask-matured Longmorn single malt.

He later travelled to Scotland to learn more about the whisky-making process before selecting his preferred blend. The final challenge was to shape the whisky into a 16-year-old expression, tying the liquid itself back to the number that inspired the collaboration.

According to Hyslop, Leclerc played an active role in the final decisions, including pushing back on ideas and helping steer the blend towards a richer, more layered profile.

What does Chivas Regal 16 taste like?

The whisky leans towards a rich, fruit-forward style. Aromas include mandarin, raisins and honey, followed by sweeter notes of toffee, cinnamon and pastry.

On the palate, expect orange marmalade and apple cake before the whisky develops more toasted oak, dark toffee and warming spice. Cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger sit alongside a light hazelnut note, with a long, velvety and spiced finish.

A Riviera-inspired serve

For those who prefer whisky in a cocktail, Chivas Regal has also created a Riviera Manhattan signature serve for the release. It combines 30ml Chivas Regal 16 with 20ml sweet vermouth, 15ml Chambord and 25ml soda, served over a large ice cube and finished with blackberry and thyme.

The drink keeps the structure of a whisky-led cocktail while adding berry notes and a lighter finish from the soda.

Chivas Regal 16 is priced at S$130 and is available in Singapore from 1 September 2026. It can be found at selected FairPrice Finest stores and online via Shopee.
