QT Singapore’s Cygnet Bar, tucked within the vibrant heart of the CBD, introduces a unique cocktail experience that blends New York’s literary legacy with the bold, bright flavours of Southeast Asia.

Hidden behind plush velvet drapes, the bar’s interior combines modern elegance with heritage charm — think ribbed glass, rattan accents, green marble, and references to the nearby Lau Pa Sat. The vibe is intimate yet energetic, set to a soundtrack of R&B and 90s hip-hop, making it the perfect after-work escape.

At the helm is Head Bartender Timothy Aw, whose latest menu is a tribute to storytelling. Divided into two chapters — The Lion’s Library and The City That Never Sleeps — each drink reads like a short story in a glass.

The Lion’s Library: Cocktails Inspired by Iconic Literature

(Left to right) Here is New York, Memoirs of a Geisha and Dorsia

This chapter celebrates the classics through inventive cocktails. Highlights include:

  • Here is New York – A creamy, spiced blend of bourbon, apple brandy, cinnamon, and bitters that evokes the comfort of an apple pie.

  • Dorsia – A clarified milk punch using local Brass Lion Gin and curry leaf, subtly referencing the dark satire of American Psycho.

  • Memoirs of a Geisha – Campari, white rum, and Sichuan pepper strawberry syrup offer complexity and bite.

  • Just Kids – A Ramos Fizz reimagined with peach-cream swirl flavours, nodding to Patti Smith’s cult classic.

The City That Never Sleeps: Classic Cocktails, Reinvented

In this section, familiar favourites are transformed with local twists:

  • Penicillin – Galangal replaces ginger for a distinctly Southeast Asian depth.

  • Vesper – With house-made pomelo bitters and regional spices.

  • Hemingway Daiquiri – Featuring coconut liqueur and rum for a tropical finish.

  • Kingston Negroni – Bold with Jamaican rum, Cynar, and chargrilled pineapple garnish.

Inclusivity and Sustainability

Cygnet also caters to all palates with zero-proof versions of its signature drinks, such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and The Devil Wears Prada. Meanwhile, cocktails like El Diablo embrace sustainability, using house-made red wine pineapple syrup infused with pink peppercorns to reduce waste and maximise flavour.

“Our cocktails are designed to spark the same feeling as a great book — layered, thoughtful, and immersive,” says Timothy Aw.
