Kuala Lumpur’s dining scene is about to get even more exciting as ATAS Key Tables returns to The RuMa Hotel and Residences with an extended residency by MICHELIN-starred Chef Louis Han. From 1 August to 30 November 2026, diners can experience the celebrated chef’s modern Korean steakhouse, GU:UM, without having to travel to Singapore.

Following a successful guest appearance last year, Chef Han is returning for a four-month collaboration that promises an immersive dining experience centred around contemporary Korean cuisine, premium grilled meats and heartfelt hospitality.

What is ATAS Key Tables?

ATAS Key Tables is The RuMa Hotel and Residences’ signature dining series, created to bring internationally acclaimed chefs to Kuala Lumpur for more than just a one-night event.

Instead of short guest appearances, the series focuses on longer culinary residencies that allow both chefs and diners to build a deeper appreciation of different cuisines. The initiative reflects The RuMa’s commitment to creating memorable dining experiences while encouraging cultural exchange through food.

For this latest edition, ATAS welcomes back GU:UM, one of Singapore’s most talked-about modern Korean restaurants.

Meet Chef Louis Han

Born and raised in Seoul, Chef Louis Han has become one of the leading names in modern Korean cuisine.

Before opening his own restaurants, he was part of the opening team at Singapore’s two-MICHELIN-starred Meta and later worked at Seoul’s three-MICHELIN-starred MOSU. His restaurant, NAE:UM, earned a MICHELIN Star in its first year and he went on to become the first Korean recipient of the MICHELIN Guide Young Chef Award in 2022.

In 2024, Chef Han introduced GU:UM in Singapore, offering a fresh interpretation of Korean barbecue by combining traditional flavours with refined cooking techniques.

What Makes GU:UM Different?

Named after the Korean word meaning “to grill” or “cook over fire”, GU:UM reimagines the classic Korean barbecue experience in an elegant steakhouse setting.

Rather than focusing solely on grilling meat at the table, the restaurant showcases premium ingredients prepared with contemporary techniques while preserving the comforting flavours that Korean cuisine is known for.

The concept blends familiar dishes with elevated presentation, making it approachable for diners who may be new to Korean cuisine while still offering something distinctive for seasoned food lovers.

What to Expect on the Menu

The residency menu celebrates Korean flavours through dishes that are both comforting and sophisticated.

Guests can begin their meal with appetisers such as:

  • Yukhwae Jeon
  • Mulhwae
  • Korean Fried Cauliflower (KFC)

The main event features GU:UM’s signature charcoal-grilled selections, including:

  • Hanwoo Lower Loin
  • Woodae Galbi Short Rib
  • Surf & Turf Platter

Alongside these are a selection of comforting Korean-inspired dishes including Uncle Lulu’s Fried Rice, Cold Japchae, Sujebi Mac & Cheese and Doenjang Jjigae.

To finish, diners can enjoy desserts such as Hotteok, Mandarin Bingsu and Koguma Mousse, providing a sweet conclusion to the fire-led dining experience.

A Four-Month Residency Worth Planning For

Unlike many guest chef collaborations that last only a few days, this residency spans four months, giving both locals and visitors plenty of opportunities to experience Chef Han’s cuisine.

Whether you’re already a fan of Korean food or simply looking for a memorable dining experience in Kuala Lumpur, ATAS Key Tables offers the chance to enjoy the work of one of Asia’s leading chefs without leaving Malaysia.

Reservations are recommended, particularly for weekend evenings.
