The Pine Garden’s 2025 Christmas Collection: Tried & Reviewed

The Pine Garden has released their festive 2025 collection – and as always, they’ve brought a unique twist to the table. From floral-infused logs to Southeast Asian flavour bombs, this year’s lineup promises to surprise and delight. But do the new flavours live up to the hype?

We got our hands (and forks) on three of their new seasonal creations – and here’s our honest take.

Berry Blossom Log – Tart, Refreshing, and a Winner

This one’s a floral-fruity number: hibiscus sponge, raspberry compote, and a hibiscus-raspberry cream, all rolled together and topped with hibiscus jelly and freeze-dried raspberries.

It’s tangy, bright and doesn’t weigh you down – which is rare for a log cake. That tartness means you won’t feel sick after a few slices. It’s one of those desserts that’s perfect after a heavy holiday meal.

Verdict: Definitely a crowd-pleaser. Light, fresh and festive.

Choya Ume Garden Bloom Log – Elegant Idea, But Missed the Mark

On paper, this green tea chiffon roll with jasmine plum cream and choya umeshu jelly sounds divine. But in reality, it just didn’t come together.

The sponge was a little dry, and the umeshu flavour – instead of that sweet-sour, floral punch – turned out bitter and disconnected against the cream. Sadly, it didn’t capture the promise of the plum liqueur.

Verdict: Beautiful concept, but fell flat on flavour.

Sweet Corn Salted Egg Duo Log – The Surprise MVP

This one had us sceptical at first. Sweet corn and salted egg in a cake? But wow – it was an unexpected delight.

The salted egg didn’t overpower the corn, and the corn custard held its own without turning the dessert into a savoury mess. Instead, it struck a balance that made it nostalgic, indulgent and still clearly a dessert.

Verdict: A standout. Bold and balanced – we’d happily eat this again.
