Nestled along Beach Road, Basq & Bean offers more than just your average slice of cheesecake or cup of joe. It’s a marriage of bold regional flavours and carefully crafted experiences—pairing luscious Basque burnt cheesecakes with specialty coffee made from beans grown in the highlands of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

The interior is sleek, minimalist, and designed for you to stay a while—whether you’re having a solo work session or catching up with friends over dessert. Clean lines, light woods, and ambient lighting create a calm yet Instagrammable setting that reflects the brand’s ethos of indulgence with a mindful twist.

Cheesecakes with a Twist

What makes Basq & Bean stand out is its commitment to full-size cheesecakes—sold whole, not by the slice—to maintain integrity. You’ll find rich, custardy interiors under a caramelised “burnt” top, in flavours ranging from Original to Dark Chocolate, and even a fragrant local favourite: Pandan, which was my personal favourite as it was not too heavy. And yes, they’re all gluten-free.

To keep things fresh, there are also limited-edition bakes. For instance, their Mid-Autumn special featured a Basq Mooncake Cheesecake packed with salted egg yolk, lotus seed paste, and almonds—bridging tradition with modern café culture.

Thai Coffee with Layers of Character

Each cheesecake is paired with coffee roasted in one of three distinctive profiles:

  • Cherry Blossom Shower (Light Roast) – Floral and fruity

  • Toasty Glutinous Rice (Medium Roast) – Nutty and comforting

  • Dark Chocolate Vineyard (Dark Roast) – Rich and bold

The café takes pride in its coffee’s origin story—sourced from sustainable farms and roasted to enhance the cheesecake experience. Executive Chef Kevin Lee describes it best: “Cheesecake softens coffee’s bitterness, while coffee’s acidity cuts through the cake’s richness.”

We tried their Black Matcha Yuzu (it’s ok), their Literal Smoked Coffee (wow on the presentation) but our recommendation is to try their -92°C Dirty Coffee or their Hot Chocolate as you’d be wowed by both the presentation and flavours. Check out our video below to see what we mean.

Sustainability Beyond Buzzwords

Basq & Bean isn’t just about indulgence—it also walks the sustainability talk. Through a partnership with A1 Environment, the café upcycles used coffee grounds and food waste, converting them into compost or new materials rather than letting them go to waste.
