This October, Lobster Bar & Grill at Island Shangri-La Hong Kong is set to become the stage for two unforgettable guest shifts, celebrating the arrival of The World’s 50 Best Bars Awards in the city. Bar Manager Elmo Li will welcome Guangzhou’s acclaimed Hope & Sesame on 7 October, followed by Barcelona’s world-renowned Paradiso on 9 October, bringing together two of the cocktail world’s most innovative names.

Hope & Sesame: Pioneering Chinese-Inspired Mixology

Opening its doors in 2016, Hope & Sesame has redefined China’s cocktail culture with its bold, scientific approach. Recently ranked No. 7 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 and crowned Best Bar in Mainland China, it is led by co-founders Andrew Ho and Tommy Lee. Known for techniques like sous-vide infusions and rotary distillation, the bar seamlessly blends Chinese traditions with global inspirations.

On the night, guests can expect inventive creations such as the Negroni 8.0, infused with lavender and butterfly pea; the Truffle Banana, layered with applewood and caramel; the tea-forward Holzer-Tini; and the savoury-sweet Dirty & Sour. Each cocktail will be priced at HK$168.

Paradiso: Barcelona’s Cocktail Theatre

Ranked among The World’s 50 Best Bars for seven consecutive years, Paradiso is known for turning cocktails into multisensory experiences. Hidden behind a fridge door in a Barcelona pastrami shop, the bar is famed for its theatrical presentations like the Supercool Martini and the glowing Universe cocktail. Under the leadership of Giacomo Giannotti, Paradiso also champions sustainability, reimagining ingredients in unexpected ways.

Its Hong Kong takeover will feature creative signatures like the Savoury Martini, Banana Eclipse, BBQ Colada, and Ginjinha, each available for HK$168.
