This summer, Sofitel Singapore City Centre is delighted to welcome the season with its new mascot – Beau the Bee – and present a honey-themed Afternoon Tea at 1864. From 1 to 30 July 2023, 2pm to 5pm, guests can look forward to savouring an intricate array of sweet and savoury selections featuring nature’s greatest delicacy – honey, from various regions in the world.

Sofitel Singapore City Centre’s Beau the Bee

Beau the Bee is inspired by the oldest emblem used by the sovereigns of France. Symbolising power, hard work, tenacity, industriousness and regeneration, the Bee was an icon that once graced royal fabrics and furniture. Now at Maison Sofitel Singapore City Centre, the endearing mascot is a celebration of Sofitel’s French heritage and Singapore’s enterprising spirit – stylised in the traditional colours and appearance of a bee, but with a pair of sparkly wings to capture the spirit of magic and wonder, just like how the maison promises to curate a mesmerising experience like no other. Beau the Bee can be seen lounging around the hotel, at the arrival lobby, as well as the plush couches of 1864, accompanying guests on their afternoon gatherings.

A Summer of Honey: afternoon tea

An afternoon tea experience elevated with seasonal summer ingredients and premium honey sourced from various regions of the world bring a sweet summertime to 1864. Beginning with a selection of dainty savouries accompanied with honey elements, highlights include Truffle Brie Cheese and French Lavender Honey on Croffle, Crab Kueh Pie Tee with Yuzu and Honey Cream, and Honey Glazed Duck Salad with Fennel Pollen on Tartlet, where the fennel pollen adds flavours of summer to each bite with notes of licorice and citrus. Not to be missed as well is Smoked Salmon on Bellini with Caviar and Bee Pollen, featuring bee pollen, a superfood that inserts a chewy, chalky dimension of honey flavour to the dish.

Next, indulge in assorted captivating yellow-hued sweet treats, including French Lavender Honey and Yoghurt Entremet, Japanese Tea Cake with Chestnut Honey Syrup, and Salted Honey Candied Walnut and Sesame Tart. Another noteworthy treat is the Whole Honeycomb with Sea Salt, which features 100% small-batch wild honeycomb harvested from Australia, produced by wild honeybees; they are known for its thin honeycomb walls and rich flavour. No afternoon tea experience is complete without fluffy scones paired with luscious soft cream and floral orange blossom honey – made by the nectar of flowers from blossoming orange trees in Italy.

A Summer of Honey Afternoon Tea is priced at S$118++ for a set, which serves two persons. Each set includes a choice of premium tea from TWG, or barista-made coffee. Diners can bring home an exclusive mini Beau the Bee plush toy at S$19nett (usual price of S$29nett) with every set of afternoon tea purchased.
