Singapore’s dessert scene is getting a creative local twist with the debut of what is believed to be the country’s first gelato made using enriched fragrant rice. A collaboration between heritage rice brand SōngHè and artisanal gelato café Burnt Cones introduces a pandan-infused vanilla rice gelato that reimagines a familiar staple as a contemporary frozen treat.

Launching on 1 May 2026, the limited-time dessert blends flavour innovation with a charitable initiative, bringing together food culture, nutrition and community giving in a single scoop.

A Modern Gelato Inspired by an Asian Staple

The new rice gelato is crafted using SōngHè Plus enriched fragrant rice, which combines Thai Hom Mali rice with specially fortified grains containing dietary fibre, iron, zinc and folate. The result is a dessert positioned as both indulgent and nutritionally enhanced compared to conventional gelato bases.

To highlight the natural aroma of the rice, the grains are cooked with pandan leaves before being blended into a smooth white gelato base. The finished scoop carries a delicate fragrance, subtle sweetness and a slightly chewy texture reminiscent of mochi. Each serving is topped with two chocolate Pocky sticks styled to resemble chopsticks, reinforcing the dessert’s playful Asian inspiration.

Labour Day Launch Promotion at Just $1

To mark its debut, the rice gelato will be available at a special launch price of $1 per cup on 1 May 2026, from 3pm to 8pm.

After the one-day promotion, the gelato will continue to be available from 2 May to 31 July 2026 at the regular price of $6 per cup across selected Burnt Cones outlets islandwide.

A Dessert That Gives Back to the Community

The collaboration also includes a charitable component tied to each purchase. For every scoop of SōngHè Plus rice gelato sold, a bowl of rice will be donated to Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home, supporting children in need while encouraging customers to participate in a shared giving effort.

Visitors can also take part in several in-store activities during the campaign period, including sticker-based donation boards representing contributed rice bowls, weekly spin-the-wheel prize opportunities with qualifying purchases, and a QR-code guessing game offering a chance to win a cash prize.

Special Rice Promotion and In-Store Activities

Beyond trying the limited-time rice gelato, visitors can take part in several interactive activities running throughout the campaign period.

For every scoop of SōngHè Plus rice gelato purchased, a bowl of rice will be donated to Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home. Customers will also receive a sticker representing their contribution, which can be placed on an in-store donation board as part of the initiative.

Shoppers who spend $30 or more in a single receipt can participate in a weekly Spin the Wheel activity held every Sunday for a chance to win prizes.

Visitors can also join the Guess the Enriched Rice Grains challenge by scanning a QR code available at in-store tables. Participants who correctly estimate the number of enriched grains stand a chance to win $1,000 in cash.

In addition, customers can purchase 2kg packs of SōngHè Plus rice at a promotional price of $8 (usual price $13.95) at participating Burnt Cones outlets during the campaign period.
