F*nkytown (pronounced Funkytown), the Sarnies Group’s first cocktail bar concept, is now open on Sukhumvit 37 in Bangkok. It is nestled on the 4th and 5th floors with a rooftop alfresco, situated in the same building that houses the successful cafe Sarnies カフェ Sukhumvit in the heart of Bangkok’s bustling Phrom Phong.

At F*nkytown, guests experience flavours rooted in locality & seasonality — developed with takes on close-looped techniques, sustainable practices and diverse ingredients sourced across the region. Set to elevate the Bangkok bar scene and expand on the Group’s expertise in dining, F*nkytown will serve up a creatively curated food menu alongside its signature drinks.

Beverage Programme

The concept’s beverage programme is led by Group Beverage Manager Pae Ketumarn, previously from prominent establishments in the World’s 50 Best Bars, such as Sober Company in Shanghai and The SG Club in Tokyo. Developed on a funkiness scale of 1 to 5, where guests can work their way through the list and get more adventurous with big flavours — the programme aims to be inclusive yet innovative through its unconventional expressions of familiar flavours in food.

Start with the Tokyo Banana (funk level: 2, followed by a refreshing appetiser Caesar Salad (funk level: 4, and get your liquid street food supper with Som Tum (funk level: 5. For the non-drinkers, half of the signature cocktails are available as mocktails that are just as funky so get ready to have just as much fun.

Classic enthusiasts will also find twisted classics such as the Long Island Thai Tea with secret-recipe yuzu cola, something to get funky with like the Cold Brew Martini with coffee kombucha, and a solid end to the night with Sundae Old-Fashioned with kinako and black sugar.

Dining Programme

In the kitchen is Chef Theo Tomasa, previously from The Connaught and Annabel’s in London, along with Group Head Chef of the Sarnies Group, Luqman Hakim Hamzah. Guided by a similar funkiness scale, the menu features bite-sized snacks like the Hamachi Crudo Tart inspired by the classic Kueh Pie Tee, Crispy Pig’s Ears with fermented durian sambal, and Bone Marrow Canele, which is a savoury spin on the usual sweet. Larger plates to share include Jasmine Wagyu from N.Nuea, which specialises in crossbred Thai-Tajima cows.

For the whole F*nkytown food experience, opt for the ‘Feed Me’ menu, which curates the best from the kitchen monthly at THB980 per person — featuring three bites, three plates to share and a dessert.

Music Curation

True to its name, F*nkytown spins the funkiest music. Playlists cover funk, soul, R&B and 80s disco, with some of Bangkok’s hottest vinyl and digital DJs spinning from Thursdays to Saturdays, making it one of the hottest destinations to unwind in Bangkok.
