Nothing embodies the buoyant enjoyment of life quite like Champagne Lombard. Led by fourth-generation owner Thomas Lombard, the family-run Champagne house presents terroir-driven expressions celebrating the charm and diversity of Épernay. Focused on premier and grand cru, Maison Lombard introduces three ranges perfect for bubbly choices du jour this holiday season. Signature blends different terroirs whilst Terrior expresses the mineral identity of the area in Brut Nature, and Millésime encapsulates the greatest vintages of Lombard.
Celebrating the diversity of Terrior expressions
To fully present single-village and single-plot cuvees, Maison Lombard employs a predominantly Extra Brut and Brut Nature dosage to express the unique mineral characteristics of the terroir. Meticulous care has been taken from plot selection and terroir recognition to the long aging process, to enhance structure and reveal the aromatic potential, complexity and mineral balance.
Those new to Maison Lombard can begin with Champagne Lombard Extra Brut Premier Cru (S$70), the quintessential expression of Maison Lombard’s style. Touted as the champagne for all occasions, the blend of Pinot Noirs and Meunier Premier Crus (from the West side of Montagne de Reims) and Chardonnay Premier Crus (from Côte des Blancs) oers easy-going crispness and aromatic richness.
Of the Terroir range, the mono-cru Champagne Lombard Brut Nature Cramant Grand Cru (S$122) presents the rich Chardonnays Grand Cru of Cramant, while the Brut Nature Rosé de Saignée Verzenay Grand Cru Les Marquises (S$140) aunts the atypical expression of Pinot Noir Grand Cru from Verzenay. Draining soils and mild sunshine, combined with the non-dosage approach, develops delicate aromas of red fruits and fullness for versatile cuvée throughout the meal, as a dessert pairing or to be enjoyed simply as an aperitif.
A key highlight of the prized Millésime range is the Champagne Lombard Brut Nature Grand Cru Millésime 2008 (S$170). Featuring the subliminal sharpness of perfectly ripe Chardonnay Grand Cru (from Mesnil-sur-Oger and Avize), supported by the body of Pinot Noir sourced from Ambonnay, the 2008 vintage stands alongside great vintages crafted for bottle aging.
A selected range of Champagne Lombard is available at 8 by Bottles & Bottles and Bottles & Bottles webstore and retail stores islandwide. As part of the holiday season, Bottles & Bottles is running a promotion on Champagne Lombard offerings till 3 January 2022.
