Went basil picking with my aunt last Saturday and the weather was so good that I managed to get a tan while picking! Haha.
I really enjoy picking herbs and fruit. There’s something quite peaceful, calming and satisfying about picking your own food.
The smell from the picked basil was amazing! It permeated the whole kitchen and it was lovely as it is a natural mosquito repellent. Anyway, we picked 2 bags full so for 1 of the bags, my aunt made pesto sauce! It’s so simple that anyone could do it. All she did was blitz the washed basil with olive oil, salt, pepper and pinenuts. Remember that you’ll need to make it salty as it will taste a bit bland after you’ve tossed it with pasta.
We finally managed to get a good tasting of the pesto when she cooked spaghetti and tossed it all in for a simple but delicious meal. Delicious!
